Information about our embroidery

The main thing to remember is that embroidery is not printing, so it requires an entirely different approach to creating a successful final image. The are a couple of ways to embroider - our final embroidered images use two types of stiches, Satin stitch and Tatami fill. With really fine detail, we also use a Run stitch, primarily used for small lettering or where the detail needed is too thin for Satin or Tatami.

We take great care to make the embroidery the best it can be

We take great care and effort on each product, in attempts to make each embroidered garment the best it can be, however there are limitations. Our machines currently cope with a maximum of 15 colours, but each design can only have 6 colours, so we have to re-create an image the best we can knowing we can only utilise a limited number of colours. However, even though we are limited colour wise, this does not detract from the impact and excellent imagery we can create (see images further below).

We add backing for all our embroidery designs. An embroidery backing is an additional layer of cloth that makes the designs more durable and smooth-looking. You can see what this looks like on the inside of the garment, compared to the outside view.

We use an item of machinery that rubs down any uncomfortable threads, so you can wear the backing next to your skin.

The final embroidered image on the item ordered

The images we use for the product photography within our Fuel the Passion shop, may differ slightly to the final embroidery you will see on the garment sent to you. We try and re-create the images as close to shop versions as we can. The images within our shop are computer generated and create real embroidery mockups we can use to illustrate what the final product will look like. It’s only when you order the garment that our machines kick into action and start turning a design into reality.

The quality of the embroidery is excellent. Please see opposite and below some final products with the detailed embroidery on the garments. You can see how good the final embroidered item is.
