2025 marks 90 years of the Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC) — a milestone celebrating nearly a century of heritage, elegance, and shared passion for one of the world’s most iconic marques.

Founded in 1935 by Mort Morris Goodall, the AMOC began with just 30 enthusiasts gathered at the Grafton Hotel in London. Today, it stands as one of the oldest one-marque car clubs in the world — with over 9,000 members across 77 countries, united by their love for Aston Martin.

This special 2 minute 45 seconds highlight film captures the spirit of the AMOC 90th Anniversary International Celebrations and Concours, held at the stunning Hotel Gut Brandlhof in Saalfelden, Austria.

From the breathtaking drive out to a lunch stop, to over 200 Aston Martins on display, and the arrival of rare models including the 1957 DB4 Prototype DP114/2, the weekend embodied everything that makes Aston Martin ownership extraordinary.

I’ve only just discovered this episode of the Aston Martin Heritage Podcast, (it was uploaded back in June 2025, and here we are in December!) and I suspect I won’t be the only one. Marking 90 years of the Aston Martin Owners Club, it’s a brilliant listen that captures what AMOC really is at its core: not just cars and concours, but people, friendships, and shared stories, now stretching well beyond the UK.

With voices from AMOC leadership and AMOC Americas, it’s full of heritage, milestones, and a genuinely uplifting sense of community, the kind of episode that reminds you why Aston Martin ownership (and enthusiasm) is about so much more than the badge.

AMOC at 90: The Story Behind the Club

This episode is essentially a 90th anniversary celebration of the Aston Martin Owners Club (AMOC), hosted by Gary Taylor (Aston Martin Heritage Trust), with guests Tom Wesley (AMOC Chairman), Anthony (Chairman of Events), and Bob Welch (AMOC Americas).

They cover:

  • AMOC’s origins (1935): Founded after interest was gauged via The Autocar; a small group met in London and formalised the club, with early emphasis on social life plus motorsport/rallying.

  • Post-war revival: Club activity paused during WWII and restarted in the late 1940s, with key historic figures mentioned (including later presidents and notable members).

  • AMOC Americas growth: How the club developed in North America (early dealership roots, then broader growth), with flagship events like Lime Rock and major gatherings around Monterey / Pebble Beach Car Week.

  • “You join for the cars, but stay for the people”: A recurring theme — the club’s value is community, friendships, and access as much as the cars.

  • Membership is for enthusiasts too: You don’t have to own an Aston Martin to join; they talk about younger members, marshals, and people learning before buying.

  • Key events & access: References to major club-led moments (e.g., Aston Martin centenary celebrations) and member benefits like special parking/access at events (e.g., Silverstone / Le Mans-related activities).

  • International push + new licence agreement: They discuss the club becoming more international, and mention a more formal licence agreement with Aston Martin to legitimise use of the name/branding.

  • Heritage Trust “barn” and future plans: The AMHT base has been outgrown; they discuss relocating/expanding and making the Trust feel less UK-centric, including outreach like taking lectures/events abroad.

  • Why join: For the price framed as roughly a tank of fuel, you get publications, events, community, and support of the Heritage Trust (including museum benefits).
